Musician/Founder
Conor Nellis
Having a background in music and education, I have over 15 years experience as a musician, collaborator and teacher. With Goyt Music Spring, I bring music to settings such as care homes, community spaces and NHS units; engaging, playing and sharing music with patients, families and healthcare professionals. With the aim to bring some respite, make connections and share a moment through music. In setting up Goyt Music Spring, I have trained with Opus Music CIC through their Musician in Healthcare program, drawing upon their expertise and mentoring support in establishing Goyt Music Spring across the High Peak and North Derbyshire.
Why Music for Health?
The benefits
Music, listening and playing, impacts our physical wellness, having a positive impact on blood pressure and heart rate, eases pain and can reduce anxiety. It is also a great social and emotional tool; stimulating memories, creates connections through shared experience and can support emotional communication through self expression. Music is a great tool for cognitive stimulation, supporting triggering memories, promoting focus and reflection and encouraging the listener or player to focus on the music; playing, connections and listening skills.
